Join us on an adventure through northern Chile's elevated plateau on our day trip to the Red Lagoon. You'll see a spectacular lake in the region of Arica and Parinacota, as well as some small green and yellow aquifers.

Red Lagoon Day Trip

At 5 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquique and set off for the high plateau of northern Chile.

On the way, we'll pass through the crossroads of Huara and stop at the petroglyphs of Chillaiza, which date back to the period of the Inca Empire and feature figures carved into the rock. Our next stop will be in the small village of Camiña, where we'll have breakfast.

We'll then leave the Tarapacá area and head to Arica and Parinacota. Once we reach an altitude of 12,139 feet (3,700 meters), we'll see the Red Lagoon by the Caritaya River. We will learn why the lagoon has a unique crimson color and explore the area around the lake and its surrounding legend.

Nearby, we'll find the smaller Green and Yellow Lagoons, known for their fascinating colors caused by various minerals and microalgae.

After admiring these lagoons, we'll return to Camiña for lunch, which will consist of three dishes to sample local gastronomy. Following lunch, we will take you back to your hotel in Iquique, dropping you off at 6 pm.
