5-Day Amazon Rainforest Tour
Day 1
Our adventure begins at 426 Calvo de Araujo Street, where we will leave Iquitos and journey to your accommodation nestled in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Along the way, we will pause to observe some of the remarkable wildlife indigenous to the Amazon. Keep an eye out for piranhas, turtles, and lizards! Afterward, a delicious buffet lunch awaits, followed by some time to relax.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the nearby village of Timicurillo, learning about the local way of life and their traditional use of plants for medicinal purposes. As evening falls, enjoy a delightful dinner, and for the adventurous, there's the chance to join a night walk in the jungle.
Day 2
On our second day, we’ll venture to Neyser Island to discover its engaging reptile sanctuary. This offers an opportunity to observe colossal anacondas and other wildlife including monkeys and sloths.
Next, we’ll take a quick boat ride to the village of San Juan de Huashalado, home to the rescue center "El Encanto de Rony." Here, we will encounter anacondas, mambas, and various boas, as well as sloths, toucans, blue parrots, and red parrots, among countless other fascinating creatures.
After our wildlife experience, the day continues with a taste of aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón, 7 Raíces, Levántate Lázaro, and Espérame en el Suelo. For those interested, we will also provide medicinal concoctions like Camú Camú, ginger, Sangre de Grado, copaiba oil, and various butters, including those from lizard or boa, aimed at addressing bone-related concerns.
In the afternoon, we’ll embark on boats or canoes to fish in the Amazon River while witnessing a stunning sunset. We’ll conclude the day back at the lodge, enjoying a dinner filled with stories and legends of the Amazon.
Day 3
The third day presents an exciting journey along the Yanayacu River. We will travel by boat to the vicinity of San Juan de Huashalado, navigating across the "black waters" in a traditional canoe.
In this pristine environment, we'll explore native Amazonian species and, if fortune smiles upon us, even swim alongside the celebrated pink Amazon river dolphins. Lunch will be served at the residence of a local farmer, providing a genuine taste of the region.
As the day draws to a close, we will be treated to a breathtaking sunset over the Amazon before returning to our lodge for a satisfying dinner and a peaceful night's rest.
Day 4
For those eager souls, the fourth day offers an optional 4 am sunrise walk to marvel at the captivating sunrise over the Amazon. Following this magical experience, we’ll reconvene at the lodge for a hearty breakfast.
After breakfast, a scenic boat ride will take us through the Amazon River towards the vibrant community of Sinchicuy. Our exploration will include a visit to the Yagua tribe, allowing for an immersive cultural experience. We will also stop at the San Rafael community and explore the Morphohuasi butterfly farm.
In the evening, for those who missed the sunrise walk, an optional stroll will be offered to wind down the day.
Day 5
On the final day of our Amazon experience, we will drift down the river to Monkey Island, where you can enjoy the company of these playful creatures. A visit to a local fruit and medicinal plantation will follow.
Finally, we’ll gather one last time for lunch at the lodge before departing for Iquitos, where we anticipate arriving around 4 pm.
