Experience the stunning natural beauty of the northern Amazon Rainforest on this immersive five-day jungle exploration from Iquitos.
Five-Day Amazon Rainforest Adventure
Day 1
We will begin our journey with a pickup from your hotel in Iquitos, after which we will travel to our jungle accommodation via boat. Along the way, a stop will allow us to encounter the fascinating native wildlife of the Amazon. Be on the lookout for piranhas, turtles, and various lizards! Following this, a hearty buffet lunch awaits, accompanied by a brief time for relaxation.
In the afternoon, we will visit the village of Timicurillo, where our lodge is situated. Here, we’ll learn about the local way of life and the traditional medicinal uses of the native plants. As night falls, indulge in a walk through the jungle for those brave enough to join.
Day 2
The day begins with a trip to Neyser Island, where we will explore a sanctuary dedicated to reptiles. This gives us a chance to observe massive anacondas alongside other wildlife such as monkeys and sloths.
Afterward, we will cruise to San Juan de Huashalado to visit the rescue center known as "El Encanto de Rony." Here, we will encounter not just anacondas and mambas, but also sloths, toucans, and various colorful parrots.
In the afternoon, we will indulge in unique aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón, 7 Raíces, and Levántate Lázaro. For those interested in medicinal drinks, options like Camú Camú and ginger will be offered, along with local butter remedies. We will then set out to fish in the Amazon River and witness a stunning sunset before returning for a dinner filled with tales and legends from the Amazon.
Day 3
On the third day, we embark on an adventure along the Yanayacu River. A boat ride will take us across the calm waters to the village of San Juan de Huashalado. Amidst this untouched paradise, we may have the chance to swim with pink dolphins if fortune smiles upon us. Lunch will be enjoyed in the welcoming home of a local farmer.
Later, prepare to be awed by the magnificent sunset over the Amazon before heading back to camp for a delightful dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 4
For those keen on early mornings, the fourth day presents an optional early-morning safari at 4 AM to catch a glimpse of the enchanting sunrise over the Amazon—an experience not to be missed! Following this, we return to the lodge for a substantial breakfast as we gather with fellow travelers.
Once everyone is ready, our exploration continues with a scenic boat journey to the vibrant village of Sinchicuy. From there, we will explore the indigenous Yagua tribe, immersing ourselves in their cultural practices before venturing towards the San Rafael community of the Peruvian Amazon. This day will also include a visit to the Morphohuasi butterfly farm.
For those who opted out of the morning walk, an evening stroll will be offered to wrap up the day.
Day 5
The final day of our Amazon expedition involves sailing down the river to Monkey Island, where we will interact with playful monkeys and visit a plantation for fruits and medicinal plants.
Our journey concludes as we return to the lodge for a final meal together in the heart of the jungle before heading back to Iquitos, with an expected arrival around 4 PM.
Itinerary Adjustments
Please note that due to the prevailing drought conditions, reaching the lodge by boat may not be possible. A 30-minute walk will be required instead. Such droughts typically persist until November.
