Iquitos Guided Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at Avenida Antonio Raimondi to start a comprehensive tour of Iquitos. During the tour, we'll explore the main attractions of this city located on the banks of the Amazon River and delve into its history.
We'll journey through the historic center of Iquitos, admiring large mansions adorned with European tiles from the rubber boom in the late 19th century.
We'll see the façade of the Casa de Fierro, designed by Gustave Eiffel, and visit the Museum of Indigenous Amazonian Cultures, showcasing handicrafts, textiles, and artifacts from different ethnic groups in the region.
Next, we will stop at the Mercado de Belén, a local market offering a glimpse into daily life with a variety of fruits, fish, and meat products.
Following the market visit, there will be about an hour free for lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, we'll take a minibus to the outskirts of the city to visit a manatee rescue center, where we will learn about efforts to save these mammals from extinction.
The final stop will be at the Quistococha Zoo, home to numerous Amazonian species like jaguars, monkeys, and macaws.
At 5 pm, the tour will conclude back at the starting point.
