4-Day Cruise on the Marañón River & Pacaya Samiria
Day 1: Iquitos - Nauta - Pacaya Samiria & Nauta Caño
Upon your arrival at Iquitos Airport or your local hotel, a transfer will take you to the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. Here, you will receive an introductory briefing about the upcoming cruise on the Marañon River and within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
Following the briefing, we’ll transfer you to the port of Nauta, where you will board our cruiser. Your afternoon will be filled with engaging activities, beginning with a scenic boat ride through the diverse landscapes of Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. We will conclude the day with dinner and an evening exploration of the Nauta Caño region.
Day 2: Yanayacu de Pucate - San Regis
The second day kicks off with a delightful picnic along the Yanayacu River in Pucate, located in the heart of the reserve. Here, you can spot the playful pink dolphins and participate in a kayaking adventure through one of Peru’s most picturesque aquatic ecosystems.
Afterwards, we will visit the community of San Regis for a tree-planting ceremony guided by a local shaman. Later, we will return to the boat to enjoy dinner accompanied by live music.
Day 3: Shiriyacu - Puerto Prado - Kukama
It’s time to wake up early as we head out to the Shiriyacu stream, an ideal location to learn about traditional piranha fishing techniques.
We will have lunch in the afternoon and then explore the depths of the Amazon Rainforest. In the jungle, we’ll have the opportunity to meet the Kukama Indigenous People and gain insight into their traditions and way of life. After this enriching experience, we will return to the cruise ship to watch a stunning sunset. Before dinner, a live cooking demonstration will showcase local culinary skills.
Day 4: Nauta - Amazon Rescue Centre - Iquitos
On the final day of our adventure, we will enjoy breakfast as the cruise ship arrives at the port of Nauta. Following disembarkation, we will visit the Amazon Rescue Centre, where you will learn about the incredible efforts of experts and volunteers caring for animals saved from illegal trade, including manatees.
After this insightful experience, we will transfer you back to Iquitos Airport.
