If you're in Iquitos, don't miss this day trip to Monkey Island. We'll sail around the Itaya and Amazon Rivers and spot some wildlife in the Peruvian jungle.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in the centre of Iquitos and head to the Nanay pier. There, we'll board a boat and embark on a journey down the Amazon River.

We'll sail along the Itaya and Amazon rivers, discovering their secrets and admiring the flora and fauna. Our first stop will be at a local breeding centre, where we'll see native species such as black and white caimans, aquatic turtles, giant paiches, and Victoria Regias, the largest water lilies in the world.

Next, we'll take a walk through the jungle to visit a native tribe of the Yagua ethnic group, where its inhabitants will teach us their dances, music, language, and customs.

After this cultural immersion, we'll continue our journey along the Amazon River towards Monkey Island. On board, we'll enjoy a traditional meal consisting of 'Juane Amazónico' made with rice, chicken, olives, and egg wrapped in a bijao leaf, accompanied by salads, tropical fruits, and water.

At Monkey Island, officially known as Isla Rolling, a project for the care of numerous species of primates, we'll explore the refuge, learn about the monkey species cared for there, and interact with them.

On our return, you can enjoy the Amazonian sunset, and if we're lucky, we may see the iconic pink dolphins. Finally, we'll return to Iquitos and end the day trip at your hotel after 9 hours of experiencing Peruvian nature.
