Pacaya Samiria Day Trip
At the scheduled time, you will be picked up at your hotel in downtown Iquitos or at the airport. The journey to Nauta, a town in the Loreto province, takes approximately 1.5 hours, leading us to the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers. Upon arrival, life jackets will be provided before boarding a boat for a cruise on the tributary.
During the relaxing cruise, sightings may include sloths in trees and colorful birds overhead. There is a possibility of encountering grey and pink dolphins in the water. A typical regional lunch known as 'Juane' will be served, which includes chicken, egg, olive, and specially prepared rice wrapped in a green bijao leaf.
Next, the trip enters Pacaya Samiria National Park, the fourth largest protected area in South America, encompassing over 20,000 km² (12,400 miles). The park is home to approximately 208 villages of 56 indigenous communities reliant on its natural resources. The rainy seasons bring out lizards, taricayas, and charapas, while warmer months allow for views of birds, monkeys, and amphibians.
After 9 hours of exploration, the return to your hotel will conclude the adventure.
