Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in central Iquitos and take a bus to Nauta, a town in the Loreto province.
After a two-hour drive, we’ll tour the town, exploring its main square and surrounding streets.
Around 8 am, we’ll board a boat at the port to navigate the Marañón River and the Ucayali River, which feed into the Amazon River.
During this ride, we may spot a sloth, colorful birds, and possibly gray and pink dolphins.
We’ll arrive at the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve for a hiking route through 20,000 square kilometers, home to 208 villages from 56 indigenous communities.
In the rainy season, expect to see lizards, taricayas, and charapas. In warmer months, sightings of birds, monkeys, and amphibians are common.
After the hike, we’ll enjoy a meal on board, featuring “Juane,” with chicken, egg, olives, and rice wrapped in a green bijao leaf, alongside salads and fruits.
We’ll then engage in traditional fishing techniques to catch piranhas in the reserve’s lagoons.
Finally, we’ll return to the dock and board the bus back to Iquitos, concluding a 13 to 14 hours day trip before dropping you off at your hotel.
