Activity Details

After hotel pickup at the indicated time, we will begin our tour of Easter Island, traveling along the East coast.

First, we visit the archaeological site of Ahu Akahanga, where you will see the remains of a settlement and the tomb of King Hotu Matu'a. Your guide will explain the significance of this mythical king in local history.

Next is Ahu Tongariki, the largest sanctuary on Easter Island. The 15 moai here were destroyed during the 18th-century tribal wars and restored in the 90s by the Chilean government.

We will then travel to the volcanic crater of Rano Raraku, the quarry where most moai were sculpted. We will walk along the crater’s side and observe unfinished moai, including ‘El Gigante’, which would have been 70 feet high and weighed around 270 tonnes.

Following a break for lunch amidst more than 390 moai at Rano Raraku, we will visit the smaller sanctuary of Ahu Te Pito Kura. Our journey will conclude at Anakena beach, where you can admire the moai of Ahu Nau Nau before returning to your hotel after approximately seven hours.
