Step into the ancient past of Easter Island with this trip to the ceremonial village of Orongo and the Rano Kaa volcano. Prepare to be astounded!

Orongo and Rano Kau Volcano Trip

At the indicated time, we'll collect you from your hotel and start a journey back to ancient times. The first stop is at Vinapu, an archaeological site featuring intricately carved stones and Ahu stone platforms similar to Inca constructions in Cuzco.

Next, we will visit the Rano Kau volcano. We will walk along the eroded sides of the volcano, eventually reaching the top and the large crater that holds one of the three freshwater lakes of Easter Island. From this vantage point, enjoy views of the landscape and the three islets significant to annual religious ceremonies of the Rapa Nui people.

Near the Rano Kau volcano, explore the ruins of the ceremonial town of Orongo. Here, observe oval-shaped stone statues and numerous petroglyphs depicting the “birdmen” feats related to an annual race to retrieve the first egg of the season.

By the end of the tour, you will have learned about the legends and traditions of the ancient inhabitants of Easter Island. The tour will conclude 3 hours after pickup at the hotel.
