On this excursion to the Taxila Ruins from Islamabad, we'll visit one of the ancient centers of Buddhism, including Sirkap and the monasteries of Dharmarakija and Jaulian.
Tour to the Taxila Ruins
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Islamabad to begin this excursion to one of Pakistan's World Heritage Sites.
Our first stop will be at the Taxila Museum, where we'll learn about the Gandhara civilization that existed in this area 2,000 years ago, featuring ancient Buddhist handicrafts and sacred relics.
Next, we'll visit the Dharmarajika Monastery and its stupa, among the largest in South Asia, built by King Ashoka to preserve relics of Buddha.
We'll then move on to the ancient capital of Taxila, Sirkap, which is partially excavated. After viewing these archaeological ruins, we will proceed to the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian, an active educational center.
Here, we'll explore its stupa, the ancient monastery ruins, and the monument of the Healing Buddha, as we learn about the significance of this site for Buddhist education.
After the visit, we'll return to Islamabad, dropping you off at your hotel 8 hours after pickup.
