Istanbul Mosque Tour
We will meet at the German Fountain in Sultanahmet at the scheduled time to begin our tour of the mosques of Istanbul. Our first stop is the Hagia Sophia, built in the 6th century AD by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. This landmark has served as an Orthodox Christian cathedral, a Catholic church, a mosque, and a museum. Your guide will explain its exterior, after which you can explore inside using an audio guide.
Next, we will visit the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, noted for its beautiful tiles that feature geometric patterns.
The final stop will be the Suleymaniye Mosque, which has been the largest mosque in Istanbul for over 450 years. This mosque is renowned for its architect, Mimar Sinan, who was pivotal during the reigns of Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II, and Murad III.
After a 4-hour tour of Istanbul's mosques, we will conclude at the meeting point.
