Visit the best-preserved Arab baths in Europe with this Arab Baths and Villardompardo Palace Tour. Discover the washing ritual used during the Andalusian period.
Arab Baths and Villardompardo Palace Tour
We'll meet at the Arab Baths Cultural Centre to begin a tour of the Villardompardo Palace, a 16th century Renaissance building that houses the Baths.
The guided tour will commence at the Palace, the residence of Fernando de Torres and Portugal, the First Count of Villardompardo and Viceroy of Peru. The Palace, built in the 16th century, is located in the historic centre of Jaen and has undergone various ownership and functions.
We will visit two museums within the Palace: the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs, showcasing crafts lost throughout history, and the Naïf Art Museum, unique in Spain.
Next, we will explore the largest Arab Baths in Europe, covering 450 square meters and dating back to 1002. These baths exemplify the washing rituals of the Muslim population. The tour includes visibility of the four rooms of these traditional baths.
After approximately an hour and a half, we will conclude our guided tour at the Terrace-Viewpoint, offering excellent views of the city.
