Private Day Trip to Abhaneri

After being picked up from your hotel in Jaipur, you'll travel east towards Rajasthan.

Following an approximately two hour drive, you'll reach the village of Abhaneri. The medieval architecture allows you to explore the history of the Rajputs, a warrior caste who controlled much of Rajasthan from the 6th to 12th centuries.

Your first stop will be the Chand Baori in Abhaneri. This is one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India, featuring 3,500 narrow steps that descend about 100 feet (30 m) into the ground. Water has been stored here for public baths for over a thousand years. These structures were crucial for utilizing the water from the monsoons during drier seasons. You'll learn about the ancient construction techniques used by the Rajputs without modern technology.

Next to Chand Baori, you'll visit the Harshat Mata Temple, built in the 7th and 8th centuries. Although it was invaded and damaged in the 10th century, it remains a significant example of ancient Indian architecture. Inside, explore the elaborately carved stone sculptures reflecting Hindu religion and culture.

Concluding your tour, you'll visit a local restaurant to enjoy typical Indian cuisine (not included). After your meal, you'll return to your hotel in Jaipur.
