Travel back in time to the medieval Rajput era visiting the ancient monuments of Chand Baori and the Harshat Mata Temple, the architectural jewels of Abhaneri.
Private Day Trip to Abhaneri
After being picked up from your hotel in Jaipur, you will travel east toward Rajasthan. The drive takes approximately two hours, leading you to the village of Abhaneri, known for its medieval architecture that reflects the history of the Rajputs, a warrior caste in control from the 6th to 12th centuries.
Your first stop will be Chand Baori, one of the largest and deepest stepwells in India, featuring 3,500 narrow steps descending about 100 feet (30 m) into the ground. This well has provided water for public baths for over a thousand years, utilizing ancient engineering techniques developed during the medieval period to manage monsoon water resources.
Next, you will visit the Harshat Mata Temple, built in the 7th and 8th centuries, which suffered significant damage during the 10th century. Despite being partly in ruins, it remains an important example of ancient Indian architecture, showcasing intricately carved stone sculptures that reflect Hindu stories and culture.
Concluding the tour, you will stop at a local restaurant to enjoy traditional Indian cuisine (meal not included). After your meal, you will return to your hotel in Jaipur.
