Activity Details
At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Jaipur and proceed to a local printmaking studio. You may bring along an item of clothing for printing, or fabric will be provided; either way, prepare to unleash your creativity!
Upon arrival at the workshop, you will be equipped with essential supplies: fabrics, dyes, tools, and stencils. During this engaging session, you will delve into the fundamentals of traditional Indian printmaking, a skill with roots spanning back several centuries. Throughout the activity, we will explore how to utilize natural dyes derived from plants and minerals that are crucial to the craft. This endeavor not only embodies artistic expression but also serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
As we progress, you will have the chance to practice various stamping methods, such as block stamping, which employs hand-carved wooden blocks, as well as silkscreen printing, enabling you to produce detailed designs.
In addition, there will be opportunities to experiment with stencils to develop personalized creations. You can also design your own motifs using techniques like drawing, painting, and digital design!
After two inspiring hours, we will return you to your hotel, along with a unique piece of art and a enriched understanding of Jaipur’s textile legacy.
