Embark on an exploratory journey through Jakarta, where we will unveil the essence of Indonesia’s capital. Prepare to immerse yourself in a blend of historical sites, vibrant neighborhoods, mosques, cathedrals, and engaging museums!
Tour Overview
At the designated time, a member of our team will collect you from your hotel, setting the stage for an enriching comprehensive tour of Jakarta.
Our journey kicks off at the Fatalillah Museum, renowned for its extensive collection of colonial-era art. Following this, we will head to the Istiqlal Grand Mosque, which proudly holds the title of the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and ranks as the ninth-largest globally. Nearby lies the Jakarta Cathedral, a testament to the harmony between different faiths.
After appreciating these architectural marvels, we will pause for photos at the National Museum of Indonesia, followed by a delightful traditional lunch lasting 30 to 45 minutes.
As we resume our adventure, we will navigate through the lively streets until we find ourselves in Chinatown, also known as Glodok. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore its temples and bustling markets.
For those seeking a bit of excitement, our next highlight involves taking a tuk-tuk ride through Old Batavia, the historic core of Jakarta. Often referred to as the "Jewel of Asia" or the "Queen of the Orient" by European seafarers during the 16th century, this area offers a rich tapestry of history in just a segment of 2 kilometers (1.2 miles). We will delve into its significance as a crucial trading hub in Southeast Asia owing to its advantageous location.
In Batavia, we will explore a traditional puppet studio, gaining insight into the cultural importance of shadow puppetry in Indonesia. Our tour will conclude at the old Port of Jakarta, a place steeped in history as a former commercial center. A journey back in time awaits you!
Upon concluding our 5 to 6-hour tour of this vibrant capital, we will return to the original meeting point.
