Buraco das Araras Hiking Tour
At the agreed time, we'll meet at the BR-267 road, specifically in the area that connects this road with the natural site of Buraco das Araras. Once there, we'll start a hike to a 127-metre-deep sinkhole (416 feet), the largest in Latin America. We'll explain how this nature reserve was formed while admiring the sandstone landscape.
During the hike, we'll make several stops at different viewpoints to observe the geological formations and the many species of birds in the area. The name Macaw Hole refers to the vibrant macaws that we may see flying nearby.
Accompanied by a guide, we'll learn about the Buraco das Araras and its flora and fauna. If you look closely, you might see caimans swimming in the lagoon at the bottom of the cliff.
After an hour's walk, we'll conclude the visit at the starting point.
