Jerez Alcazar & Cathedral Guided Tour Itinerary
After meeting at the indicated time in Plaza del Arenal, we will begin our walking tour of the city's significant historic buildings and monuments.
Our tour will start with a stroll through Alameda Vieja Park, followed by a visit to the Alcazar of Jerez, known for exemplifying Almohad architecture in the Iberian Peninsula. This former Arab palace fortress is the oldest monument in the city.
We will pass through the City Gate to enter the Alcazar complex. Here, we will explore the Patio de Armas, the gardens, the Arab baths, the pharmacy, and the notable Villavicencio Palace, a baroque structure built on the remains of an earlier Islamic palace.
Next, we will proceed to Encarnacion Square, home to the Cathedral. Upon entering, we will observe its unique blend of Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. Inside, we will visit the cathedral museum, including the sacristies, where we can see the renowned La Virgen Niña en oración by Francisco de Zurbarán.
The tour will conclude at Plaza de la Encarnación after two hours of exploration.
