Guápiles Chocolate Tour

Become immersed in the delicious aroma of chocolate while you learn about the properties and care of Costa Rican cocoa on this tour in Guápiles.

Options

When booking, you can choose between two different options. Both options start at 9 am and include an English-speaking guide, a cocoa tasting and a chocolate workshop:

Chocolate Tour (2 hours)

After meeting on Calle Vieja, we'll take a guided tour through the cocoa harvest to see the pods where the beans are grown and discuss the care of this Costa Rican delicacy. You'll also see the fermentation and drying process. The tour includes tasting chocolate products made on the farm and a workshop where you'll make 70% cocoa chocolates.

Chocolate Tour + Las Golondrinas Waterfall (7 hours)

This option follows the same itinerary as the previous tour, with two hours of free time for lunch and relaxation. Then, we'll embark on a 20-minute hike through dense tropical rainforests to the Las Golondrinas waterfall. During the hike, we'll encounter a bridge suspended 36 feet high (11 meters). At the waterfall, standing 82 feet tall (25 meters), you'll have time to swim and jump from the rocks into the water.
