Night Swim with Manta Rays on Big Island Hawaii

Snorkelling is always an incredible experience, but snorkelling at night adds a special element. After meeting at Kealakehe Pkwy at the scheduled time and reviewing safety instructions, you will board a boat headed to a natural habitat for manta rays.

In just five minutes, you will arrive at the manta ray location, where they can reach up to 23 feet (7 metres) in width. Equipped with snorkelling goggles and a breathing tube, you will enter the water accompanied by your instructor, who will carry a light board to help you see the manta rays in the dark. The light also attracts plankton, which is a food source for the mantas.

You will spend about 30 to 40 minutes swimming with the manta rays before returning to the boat, concluding this two-hour-long activity.

What if we don't see any manta rays?

While manta rays are typically visible, their appearances can be unpredictable due to sea currents, wind, and weather conditions. If no manta rays are seen during your activity, you will have the opportunity to redo the activity on the next scheduled day for free (subject to availability).
