Activity Details
Pickup from your hotel in Kandy will be followed by a 2.5-hour journey by minibus to Kaudulla National Park. Upon arrival, get on a jeep for the Kaudulla safari. During the three-hour drive, you'll explore the reserve's ecological value, which is recognized as an IBA (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area). The park features 160 species of birds, 24 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles, and 26 species of fish, including cranes, peacocks, and pelicans.
A picnic area stop will be provided; remember to pack lunch. The afternoon safari will focus on areas known for their population of Asian elephants, a species that faces extinction but is preserved significantly in Sri Lanka.
Throughout the safari, opportunities to see other wildlife, such as buffalos and Ceylon deer, will be available. The park also hosts a variety of Asian reptiles, many of which are indigenous to Sri Lanka and parts of India.
At the end of the safari, return to the park entrance to take the minibus back to your hotel in Kandy, completing a 10-hour trip.
