Activity Details

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Kandy, followed by a 2.5-hour minibus ride to reach the stunning Kaudulla National Park, renowned for its environmental significance.

Upon arrival, we will board a jeep to embark on the Kaudulla safari. Over the course of three hours, we will explore the park's rich ecological landscape, recognized as an IBA (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area). This reserve is home to 160 bird species, along with 24 mammal species, 25 reptile species, and 26 fish species. Among the various fauna, you’ll encounter magnificent birds like cranes, peacocks, and pelicans, enhancing your skills in identifying the different avian types!

We will take a break at a designated picnic area, so remember to bring your lunch! The afternoon safari will proceed into regions within Kaudulla teeming with Asian elephants. Despite facing a risk of extinction, Sri Lanka remains one of the few countries housing a substantial population of these majestic mammals.

Throughout our time in Kaudulla, we will also seek out other wildlife, such as buffalos and Ceylon deer. The park boasts a significant population of Asian reptiles, many of which are endemic to Sri Lanka and parts of India.

Concluding our safari at the park entrance, we will return to your hotel in Kandy via minibus, ensuring a total experience of around 10 hours.
