With this desert safari from Kerman, you will visit the kalouts in the Shahdad desert, known as the hottest desert in the world.
Activity Details
The tour starts with a pickup from your hotel in Kerman at 9 am. After a 90-minute drive, we arrive at the village of Shadad, where some of the highest recorded temperatures have been noted. The Shahdad Desert, also called the Lut Desert, features unique kalouts, which are large formations of rock and sand. You can explore these natural sculptures on a camel or quad bike, depending on your preference.
As we traverse the rugged terrain, stories about the kalouts, referred to locally as yardangs or "rock and sand ghosts," will be shared. The formations stand prominently in the desert landscape.
Following the safari, we will return to the vehicle and travel to the village of Keshit, where the scenery will change to include palm trees, waterfalls, and a riverbed. In Keshit, you can enjoy lunch at one of the typical Arab food stalls influenced by Persian cuisine. We will depart for Kerman at 5 pm.
