Why visit the Truman Little White House?
In November 1946, Harry S. Truman visited Key West and became captivated by a manor house with a white façade, later known as the Little White House. Truman made it his preferred location for rest.
The Little White House has significant historical relevance. It was built in 1890 as the headquarters of the Naval Base and served as a residence for Thomas Edison in 1918 during his work on wartime inventions.
Currently, the site operates as the Truman Little White House museum, honoring Truman’s connection to this Key West residence.
With your ticket, you can explore various rooms and learn about their interesting stories, including those where Truman and his wife, Bess, hosted guests. Important decisions impacting the United States and the world were made here, including the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine.
