During your trip to Kenya, visit one of the most important port towns on a day trip to Malindi. Uncover the bustling market and its links with Vasco da Gama!

Malindi Day Trip

From Hotel Blue Bay IGV in Watamu, we will set out for Malindi, a port town along the Galana River, the second largest in Kenya. After a 30-minute drive, we will reach this historical town, known for its significance as a port city. Our first stop will be the Malindi Museum, also known as the House of Columns, featuring exhibitions on underwater archaeology and the Mijikenda tribes.

Next, we will visit the pillar erected in tribute to the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in the 15th century, symbolizing the commercial relationship between Portugal and Kenya. This site also offers a view of the Kenyan coast, perfect for photographs.

During the tour, we will explore the Portuguese chapel, the first Christian church in East Africa, and stroll through the local market, where the vibrant stalls and products are captivating.

Finally, we will provide 30 minutes of free time for you to explore the market further and taste traditional dishes. We will conclude the excursion by returning to Watamu, with an arrival time of 3 hours after pickup.
