Amalienborg Palace Guided Tour Itinerary
At the scheduled time, meet your guide at the main entrance to Amalienborg. The palace complex, located on the waterfront in Copenhagen, is the residence of the current Danish monarchs.
The tour begins with an introduction to the octagonal courtyard surrounded by the four mansions of the palace. Your guide will share the history and secrets of the buildings, while you enjoy views of the elegant square, featuring the equestrian statue of Amalienborg's founder, King Frederick V, and notable landmarks including Frederik's Church to the west and the Copenhagen Opera House to the east.
Originally built in the 18th century for Danish nobility, Amalienborg became the official residence of the monarchs after a fire at Christiansborg Palace in 1794.
Inside the palace, visit the Amalienborg Museum to see reconstructed royal offices and private rooms, gaining insight into the family's traditions. Explore Christian VII's Palace, including the magnificent Pompeian Chamber, Queen Louise’s salon, and the Throne Chamber.
The tour lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours.
