Explore Amalienborg, the Copenhagen palace complex that has been the residence of the Danish royal family since the 19th century. Admire the extravagant interiors of Christian VII's Palace while learning about the history of this significant monarchy.

Amalienborg Palace Guided Tour Itinerary

Meet your guide at the main entrance to Amalienborg at the designated time. The palace complex is located on the waterfront and is one of Copenhagen's most important sites. Your guided tour starts in the octagonal courtyard surrounded by the four mansions of the palace. Your expert guide will detail the history of the buildings, while you enjoy views of the elegant square, the equestrian statue of King Frederick V, the Rococo-style Frederik's Church, and the contemporary Copenhagen Opera House.

Originally built in the 18th century for Danish nobility, the complex became the official home of the monarchy after a fire at Christiansborg Palace in 1794. Inside, visit the Amalienborg Museum for a reconstruction of the royal offices and private rooms, gaining insight into the royal family's history and traditions. Explore Christian VII's Palace, including the Pompeian Chamber, Queen Louise’s salon, and the Throne Chamber.

The tour lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours.
