Amalienborg Palace Guided Tour Itinerary
At the indicated time, meet your guide at the main entrance to Amalienborg. The historic palace complex is the residence of the current Danish monarchs, making it an important monument in the city.
The guided tour will introduce the octagonal courtyard surrounded by the four mansions of the palace. Your guide will reveal the history and secrets of the buildings while you admire views from the elegant square, including the equestrian statue of King Frederick V, Frederik's Church to the west, and the Copenhagen Opera House to the east.
Amalienborg was originally built in the 18th century for Danish nobility, but after a fire destroyed Christiansborg Palace in 1794, the monarchs bought the complex and made it their official home.
Inside, you will visit the Amalienborg Museum, which features reconstructions of the Danish royals' offices and private rooms. Explore the Pompeian Chamber, Queen Louise’s salon, and the Throne Chamber in Christian VII's Palace.
The tour lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours.
