Embark on an insightful journey to uncover the hidden aspects of the Danish capital with our unique tour of Copenhagen. This experience will take you through two of the city's most eclectic and artistic neighborhoods, showcasing the roots of a fascinating mini hippie community.
Tour Overview
We will commence our journey at the designated hour on Vesterbrogade Street, adjacent to Rådhuspladsen. This alternative exploration invites you to leave behind the well-trodden tourist paths and delve into the alternative culture of Copenhagen.
The first stop will be Vesterbro, recognized as the hippest district in Copenhagen. This area has gained popularity recently, thanks to its array of vintage hipster boutiques, innovative dining spots, and striking street art murals.
Interestingly, Vesterbro was once known as Copenhagen's red-light district. We will explore the remnants from its past when nightclubs and adult establishments filled the streets.
Next, we will take public transportation to Christianshavn, also celebrated as Copenhagen's canal district. This picturesque area is famous for housing Freetown Christiania, a renowned hippie commune. We will stroll around its periphery, unveiling the story behind its creation and the unique regulations that set it apart from the rest of the European Union. Prepare to be amazed!
After a duration of 2.5 hours, we will conclude our alternative tour near the Christiania neighborhood with farewells.
