Meet your guide at Copenhagen Central Station and board a train to Hillerød. The journey lasts approximately one hour, offering views of Zealand. Upon arrival at Hillerød train station, walk 15 minutes to Frederiksborg Castle, located on three islets on Slotssøen (Castle Lake). This palace complex is the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia.
Your guided tour begins in the castle's gardens, featuring French-style parterres and mazes. Inside, visit the Danish Museum of National History, housing antique furniture, historical paintings, and royal portraits. Explore the Audience Chamber? and the Great Hall, appreciating their tapestries and Baroque interiors, as well as the Frederiksborg Castle Chapel, known for its gold and silver altar and one of Europe's oldest organs. Marvel at the castle's exterior, including the clocktower and the elaborate Neptune fountain . At approximately 12:30 pm, return to Hillerød train station and travel back to Copenhagen in about an hour.
Important Information
This day trip does not include transport or entrance to the Frederiksborg Castle. A 24-hour train ticket to Hillerød costs about 130DKK per person. Entrance to Frederiksborg Castle costs between 90DKK and 110DKK for adults, 70DKK and 90DKK for students and seniors, and is free for children under 18. If you have a Copenhagen Card, transport to Hillerød and entrance to the castle are included.
