Immerse yourself in the world of literature and Danish history on this guided tour of Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, or Elsinore, the coastal fortress immortalised in Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Kronborg Castle Day Trip Itinerary
Your excursion will begin at Copenhagen Central Station, where you'll board a train to Helsingør, a small town in eastern Denmark. The journey takes approximately one hour, after which you'll walk 20 minutes to Kronborg Castle, on the northeastern tip of Zealand Island. The fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dates back to the 15th century and historically controlled access to the Baltic Sea.
Enter the castle via a bridge and discover its connection to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Explore the chambers, halls, and ballrooms to learn about its history and the lives of important inhabitants. After visiting the castle interior, enjoy the exterior grounds and view the impressive collection of cannons, as well as the gardens which offer views over the Øresund Strait to Helsingborg.
After the guided tour, return to Helsingør train station around 12 pm to catch the train back to Copenhagen.
