Roskilde Day Trip Itinerary

Meet your English-speaking guide at the Copenhagen Central Station in the morning of your tour. You will take the train to Roskilde, arriving after approximately 25 minutes.

Enjoy a guided walking tour of this historic city, admiring the Gothic Cathedral, built in the 12th and 13th centuries and recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This church is the final resting place of 39 Danish monarchs. Your guide will share interesting facts about the history of the royals.

Next, visit the Viking Ship Museum at the Roskilde Fjord, an active port. Among the exhibits is the longest Viking warship in the world, measuring 118 feet (36 m) and capable of carrying up to 100 warriors, along with the Skuldelev ships, five original Viking boats sunk nearly 1000 years ago.

After your museum visit, you'll return to Roskilde station to take the train back to Copenhagen, arriving four hours later.

Free time

Instead of returning with the tour group around 1 pm, enjoy the option to spend the rest of your day in Roskilde. You can have lunch, visit the Cathedral, or take a Viking boat trip on the Fjord. If you decide to stay, please remember to check the train times for your return to Copenhagen.

Important information

This day trip does not include transport or entrance to the Viking Ship Museum. A 24-hour train ticket costs 130 DKK per person, and entrance to the museum ranges from 85 DKK to 150 DKK, depending on the season. If you have the Copenhagen Card, it includes transport and museum entry.
