Rafting on the Voidomatis River
We'll convene at the designated rafting base situated in Kleidonia, approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Ioannina. There, a bus will transport us to our launching site for the rafting journey.
Departing from Zagorochoria, we will equip ourselves with paddles and embark on our 7-kilometer (4.3 miles) rafting excursion on the Voidomatis River. The river's name translates to Ox's Eye, inspired by the vibrant blue of oxen's eyes, a hue mirrored in the stunning waters of this river. Throughout the voyage, you'll be captivated by the stunning turquoise sections that characterize this western Greek landscape.
Our adventure will traverse the stunning terrains of the Vikos-Aoos National Park, where historical gems await, including the venerable monastery of St. Anargiroi, established in the 16th century, alongside the majestic Ottoman bridge of Politsa.
As we navigate, we will encounter waterfalls and natural obstacles, inviting you to test your adventurous spirit during this immersive two-and-a-half-hour rafting experience.
In conclusion, we will journey back to the starting point, wrapping up our memorable outing.
