Discover the wildest side of Indonesia with this cruise of 3 days or more around Borneo where you will meet orangutans in their natural habitat.

Description

Day 1

We will meet at Iskandar airport in the morning and head to Kumai. From there, we will board our klotok, a traditional wooden Indonesian boat for a three-day cruise through Borneo.

We will drift down the Sekonyer river to the Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation center for Orangutans, observing various wildlife, including proboscis monkeys and exotic birds. At the reserve, you will see orangutans in the jungle and enjoy their affectionate nature. We will conclude the day with a candlelight meal while experiencing the sounds of the jungle.

Day 2

We'll wake early for breakfast before heading to camp at Pondok Tanggui to see orangutans. Then, we will travel to Leakey camp, where you may choose to hike through the jungle or visit the information center. We will also visit the Nipa Palm area to admire fireflies, noting that sightings are not guaranteed due to their unpredictable nature. The day will end with a night trek to look for orangutans, followed by dinner on board.

Day 3

We will have breakfast on the boat before traveling to Kumai. Here, we will transfer to an air-conditioned vehicle to Pangkalan Ban airport for a 9:30 AM departure, marking the end of our cruise.

4 day cruise

This option allows for an extended experience in Borneo, including a visit to a reforestation center to plant trees and learn about native flora, and a visit to a local village to enjoy local customs.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be on a traditional klotok, approximately 50 feet long, equipped with mattresses, cushions, mosquito net, kitchen, and bathroom. You will be attended by a professional crew, including a captain, chef, and English-speaking guide.

What do I need for this tour?

You need to arrange a return flight to Pangkalan Bun Iskandar Airport, arriving before midday on the tour start date and departing three days later. If on a 4-day circuit, depart on the fourth day.
