Spend the day discovering life on Lantau, the largest island in the Hong Kong Administrative Region. This is home to enchanting beaches, quaint fishing villages and ancient monasteries and temples, nestled against a lush mountain backdrop. Lantau is an island prime for leisure activities, yet close to the business metropolis of Hong Kong island.
In the morning, we meet at the hotel and take the MTR Subway to Tung Chung Station where we board a cable car to Ngong Ping village. The elevated journey reveals a sprawling land and seascape with views of the ocean, airport and undulating hills. On arrival, we explore Ngong Ping and take a stroll to Po Lin Monastery to marvel at the 34-metres tall Tian Tan Buddha. Delve into Buddhism at Po Lin Monastery with its Giant Bronze Buddha and feast your eyes on the ancient paintings and calligraphies.
We then enjoy a well-deserved vegetarian lunch at a restaurant within a monastery before jumping on a bus to experience local life in traditional Tai O village. Next, we catch another bus to the bustling coastal town of Mui Wo where we board a public ferry and cruise back to the hotel.
