At the specified meeting time, the activity will commence just outside the Port of Ku?adas? exit gate. This walking tour is designed to highlight the key attractions of this spa town in the province of Ayd?n.
The tour will begin with an exploration of the exterior of the Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai, a remarkable example of Ottoman architecture in Kusadasi. Participants will gain insight into the significance of caravanserais and their historical importance along the trade routes of ancient times. This site is currently utilized as a hotel.
Next, the group will proceed to the island of Güvercinada, accessible via a footbridge. Here, visitors will encounter an ancient castle characterized by its defensive walls that encompass the entire island. These formidable walls, reaching up to 3 meters high, once played a crucial role in fending off attacks during a Greek revolt in the 18th century.
