Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Diani with a tuk-tuk to travel to the sacred forest of Kaya Kinondo. Locals retreat at this place to communicate with their ancestors through prayers and offerings. Are you ready to immerse yourself in nature and culture?

We'll start at the Kaya Kinondo's Visitors Information Center for a brief introduction to the forest. The term Kaya means home or village, and this forest was founded by the Digo-Mijikenda people over 600 years ago. You'll learn about their rich history.

Next, we'll begin our hiking tour to learn about the forest's flora and fauna and the sacred activities that take place here. You'll experience a cultural performance and an ancestral healing ritual with a healer in the main clearing. This event highlights the region's oldest traditions.

After exploring the forest, we'll visit a traditional village to learn about their lifestyle and modes of subsistence. After this rewarding experience, we'll return to your hotel at the end of our 4-5 hour tour.
