High volcanic walls and one of the best-preserved pine forests in Gran Canaria take centre stage on this hiking route through the Inagua Natural Reserve.

Hike Details

At 8 am, we'll meet at Avenida San Nicolás in La Aldea de San Nicolás. We'll take a taxi for a 20-minute drive to Degollada de Tasarte, where we'll commence our hike through the Inagua Natural Reserve.

Our route brings us to see the high walls of the ancient volcano that formed Gran Canaria, an area that is 14.5 million years old. We will enter the Inagua Natural Reserve, known for its best-preserved natural pine forests. Here, we will explore the biodiversity of the Canary Islands, observing birds like the blue chaffinch, blue tits, and woodpeckers.

During the trek, we will reach an altitude of 1000 metres (3280 feet) with stunning views of the massifs of the west of Gran Canaria and Caldera de Tejeda. On clear days, you can also see the island of Tenerife and the silhouette of Teide.

As we descend to La Aldea de San Nicolás, we will discuss the native peoples of the Canary Islands, including the Guanches.

We expect to return to the starting point by around 2 pm, concluding the activity.
