High volcanic walls and a remarkable pine forest are central to this hiking route in the Inagua Natural Reserve.

Hike Details

At 8 am, we will meet at Avenida San Nicolás in La Aldea de San Nicolás and take a taxi for a 20-minute drive to Degollada de Tasarte. From there, we will commence our hike through the Inagua Natural Reserve, exploring the ancient volcanic walls that are 14.5 million years old.

The reserve features one of the best-preserved natural pine forests on the island, where we will observe the biodiversity of the Canary Islands and learn about the habitat of birds such as blue chaffinches, blue tits, and woodpeckers.

We will ascend to 1000 metres (3280 feet), enjoying views of the massifs of the west of Gran Canaria and the Caldera de Tejeda. On clear days, the island of Tenerife and Teide can also be seen.

As we descend back to La Aldea de San Nicolás, we will discuss the native peoples of the Canary Islands, known as the Guanches.

We will return to the starting point around 2 pm to conclude the activity.
