Caño Cristales Excursion

On this tour from La Macarena, you'll discover the Caño Cristales, a 7-colour river in Colombia's jungles.

Day Trip Details

Pick-up will be from La Macarena airport. From there, we will proceed to the city's riverport for a speed boat ride on the Guaybero River, approximately 20 minutes long. Upon arrival at Los Mangos harbour, we will transfer to a 4x4 jeep for a 40-minute drive to the Sierra de la Macarena checkpoint. The hiking route to the Caño Cristales will begin from this point.

The hike duration depends on the group's pace and includes stops at natural swimming pools such as the Ochos, Pianos, Piscina del Turista, and Tapete. A break will be taken at a chosen spot for a refreshing dip in nature.

At the end of the trail is the Caño Cristales, also known as the 7-colour river, showcasing blue, pink, green, red, yellow, and black hues. Time will be given to enjoy the scenery and have a lunch outside featuring cold meats wrapped in banana leaves. Following lunch, we will hike back, return by jeep to Los Mangos, and take the speed boat back to the La Macarena river harbour.

After returning, we will transport you back to La Macarena airport, expected around 5 pm.

Note that visiting Caño Cristales is not allowed on the same day you arrive in La Macarena, due to a mandatory briefing by Colombia's National Parks staff.
