Embark on an unforgettable journey along one of Bolivia's most stunning pre-Columbian trails with the 4-day hike on the El Choro Trail. As you traverse this route, marvel at the impressive vistas of the Andean Mountains and the rich natural landscapes that unfold before you.

4-Day Hike on the El Choro Trail

Day 1: La Paz - La Cumbre - Challapampa

Our adventure begins at 8:30 am when we will collect you from your hotel and drive approximately 45 minutes to La Cumbre. Here, the journey commences with a 5-hour ascent along the El Choro Trail, nestled in the heart of the Andes.

We will pause along the trail for a well-deserved lunch before ascending to the Apacheta Chucura summit, reaching a height of nearly 16,000 feet (4,870 meters). The descent will take us past the Samaña Pampa and Chucura peaks, leading us to our destination at Challapampa, situated at an elevation of 9,560 feet (2,915 meters). Upon arrival, we will settle in for the evening with dinner and a restful night's sleep.

Day 2: Challapampa - Sandillani

The second day begins with breakfast at 7:30 am, filling us with energy for another day of exploration. After breaking camp, we will embark on a 7-hour trek through the most lush and jungle-like stretches of the El Choro Trail, interspersed with breaks for rest and lunch.

Following the Chucura River, we will cross streams and gaze at waterfalls while passing through quaint villages, including El Choro, perched at 7,200 feet (2,200 meters). Famous for its suspension bridge, this village presents a scene reminiscent of a cinematic adventure. Our journey on day two concludes at Sandillani, where we will establish our camp once more. Dinner will precede a peaceful night under the stars.

Day 3: Sandillani - El Chairo - Coroico

On day three, we rise early for breakfast and pack up once again. The hike through the mountains will envelop us in a mystical fog, shrouding the peaks and creating an enchanting atmosphere.

After approximately 3 hours of trekking through breathtaking mountain scenery from Sandillani to El Chairo, we will reach our next stop. A vehicle will be ready to take us to the charming town of Coroico. Known for its exceptional coffee, we will take the time to explore this picturesque location before settling in at a hotel for the night.

Day 4: Coroico - La Paz

As our journey draws to a close, we will enjoy a leisurely breakfast. We will have coordinated our departure time the night before for our return journey to La Paz. A drive of about 3 hours will bring us back to the vibrant capital of Bolivia.
