Discover what life was like in Bolivia over three thousand years ago on this day trip to Tiwanaku. Our professional guide will show you around one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz. We will then travel to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, circa 1500 B.C., where the first Precolombian empire in South America flourished.
Our first stop will be at the lithic museum of Tiwanaku, which houses tools employed by the civilization and works of art for conservation purposes.
We'll visit significant checkpoints in Tiwanaku, including the pyramid of Akapana and the temple of Kalasasaya, a ceremonial enclosure that functioned as a calendar.
The tour continues to an underground temple featuring zoomorphic and anthropomorphic symbols, and the Puerta del Sol ("Gate of the Sun"), a symbol of Tiwanaku civilization. During this visit, we will learn about the historical context of this culture and its influence on later cultures like the Incas.
After the tour, we'll return to La Paz and drop you off after a total of 8 hours.
