Discover what life was like in Bolivia over three thousand years ago on this fascinating day trip to Tiwanaku. Our professional guide will show you around one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.

Day Trip Details

We will pick you up from your hotel in La Paz at the indicated time and head toward the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, visiting the year 1500 B.C. when the first Precolombian empire in South America flourished.

The first stop will be the lithic museum of Tiwanaku, housing tools used by the civilization and conserved works of art.

Next, we will visit key checkpoints in Tiwanaku, including the pyramid of Akapana and the temple of Kalasasaya, a ceremonial enclosure that functioned as a calendar.

The tour will also include an underground temple with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic symbols, and the Puerta del Sol ("Gate of the Sun"), a significant symbol of Tiwanaku civilization. Insights into the historical context and influence on later cultures, including the Incas, will be provided.

We will then return to La Paz, completing the tour after a total of 8 hours.
