Description
Day 1: La Paz - Death Road - La Paz - Uyuni
The journey commences! Our team will collect you from your hotel in La Paz between 7:30 am and 8 am, and then we’ll embark on a bus ride towards Death Road, renowned as one of the world's most perilous paths.
Upon arriving at La Cumbre, situated at 15,400 feet (4,700 meters) elevation, we will mount our bikes. The adventure includes cycling down steep inclines, witnessing spectacular viewpoints and traversing rocky trails adorned with waterfalls.
After this exhilarating cycling experience, we will return to La Paz, ready to commence the next phase of our journey. We’ll board a bus and travel overnight to Uyuni.
Day 2: Uyuni
At around 7 am, we will arrive in Uyuni and enjoy breakfast at a local café. Refueled, we will climb into a jeep to explore the iconic Uyuni Salt Flat. A photo opportunity awaits at the train cemetery, a site perfect for capturing unique images.
Next, we will visit Colchani, where we’ll learn about the various techniques involved in salt extraction at a processing plant. Following this, we’ll reach the magnificent Uyuni Salt Flat, celebrated as one of the most stunning salt flats in Bolivia.
As the day unfolds, we’ll stop by the Dakar monument, commemorating the historic visit of the renowned rally to Bolivian terrain in 2014. Additionally, we'll check out the Playa Blanca salt hostel, crafted entirely of salt, complete with salt furnishings.
To cap off our day, we will visit Incahuasi Island, located centrally within the salt flat and famous for its towering cacti. Here, we can witness a breathtaking sunset over the Uyuni Salt Flat. Our day concludes at a hostel in Uyuni.
Day 3: Uyuni - Huayllajara
Awake and ready! After breakfast at the hostel, we will set off toward the Red Lagoon. On our route, we will encounter intriguing sites such as Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiacorta lagoons, the Siloli Desert, and the unique Stone Tree, a fascinating natural formation.
Lunch will be served at Paso del Inca, and by 4 pm, we will arrive at the Red Lagoon. Here, marvel at the local flamingos, and later, we will stay in a hostel in the community of Huayllajara overnight.
Day 4: Huayllajara - Salvador Dalí Desert - Uyuni - La Paz
After breakfast and preparation, we will visit the remarkable Sol de Mañana to observe its active volcanic features. Following this, we will explore the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve and take a break at the Chalviri Hot Springs, ideal for a soothing soak.
Our journey continues to the Salvador Dalí Desert. Let’s see if it captures the surreal essence synonymous with this Spanish artist's work! We will also enjoy scenic views from the shores of Verde and Blanca lagoons, along with the impressive Lincancabur Volcano, located near the Chilean border.
Afterward, we'll return to Uyuni, where a bus awaits to take us back to La Paz.
Day 5: La Paz
Following our overnight journey, we will arrive back in La Paz at approximately 6:30 am.
