La Vega Religious History Private Tour
At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Vega for a private tour exploring the city's Christian heritage. Our first stop will be Duarte Park, followed by a visit to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, where you'll discover symbolic details, including the significance of the number 12 on stained glass windows. The visit will also highlight representations of heaven and sin within the structure.
Next, we will proceed to the Sacred Museum, which features priceless relics and Taíno figures. We will then visit the Church of Our Lady of Mercedes on Santo Cerro, where you will learn about the legend of the cross of Columbus and its connections to the indigenous population and the Virgin Mary.
Our final stop is La Vega Vieja, the site of the first settlement established by colonists, which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1562. The tour concludes with your return to the starting point at 1:30 pm.
