At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and start a tour of La Vega's religious history, focusing on the Catholic faith.

We'll stroll through Duarte Park until we reach the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Inside, we will observe the significance of wall colors, the origin of semi-elliptical columns, and the symbolism of the number 12. Highlights include the resurrected Christ and the Virgin of Christopher Columbus, along with the first cross in America.

Next, we will visit the Sacred Museum featuring Taíno figures, archaeological remains, paintings, valuable relics, and an allegory of the first indigenous baptism. Afterward, we will see the site of the old cathedral before heading to Santo Cerro, home to the Church of Our Lady of Mercedes, where we will discuss the legend of the indigenous people and the Virgin Mary's apparition.

We will proceed to La Vega Vieja, the first Spanish settlement in the area, which was destroyed by an earthquake in the 16th century. Here, we will learn about Christianisation and the area's first settlers.

Following this tour, we will return to the starting point and conclude our visit at 1:30 pm.
