On this guided tour of the Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castles, we'll discover this beautiful ensemble of historic buildings on the slopes of Monte Viso.

Tour Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castles in Lagnasco, a complex made up of three buildings dating back to 1100. This group of fortresses, built between the end of the 11th century and the 18th century, is located at the foot of the Italian Alps. The tour will explore its history and the artworks it houses. The castle was home to the court of Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and Marguerite de Valois in 1560.

Among the different spaces to be explored is the Hall of the Coats of Arms with its collection, and the loggetta delle magiche grottesche, showcasing frescoes by Pietro Dolce. You'll see imaginary and monstrous creatures reminiscent of styles from the works of Hieronymus Bosch.

The tour will also highlight the architectural and artistic development of the castles over time, featuring frescoes and plastic works of 17th-century Piedmontese Mannerism. The visit will last 45 minutes, concluding with farewells outside the Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castle complex.
