Whales and dolphins in the Portuguese Azores are notable for their size. On our Pico Island Dolphin & Whale Watching activity, you will observe these animals along the lush southern coastline of the island.

Pico Island Dolphin & Whale Watching

We will meet at the dock of Rua dos Baleeiros in Lajes do Picos, a village on Pico Island's southern coast. Biologists will provide a brief technical talk before we set sail. We will depart on a Zodiac boat, sailing along Pico's southern coastline, known for its large dolphin and whale pods.

During the trip, we will spot whales and dolphins typically found in this part of the North Atlantic. The crew will assist in identifying different species based on features like fins or backs. We will also enjoy views of Pico Island's coastal landscapes, share facts about the history of the Azores, and discuss other marine species present in the archipelago.

The 3-hour boat trip will conclude with a return to the dock where the activity began.
