On this hike in La Rioja's surroundings, you'll have the option to trek around Los Colorados Reserve or explore Condor Ravine (Quebrada de los Cóndores).

Hike Options

During the booking process, you can choose between two options: a hiking trail in Los Colorados Provincial Reserve or in Condor Ravine. Both hikes include hotel pickup and drop-off in La Rioja and a Spanish-speaking guide. Below are the details of each trail:

Los Colorados (8 Hours)

After a 75-kilometre (46.6-mile) drive from La Rioja, we'll reach the municipality of Patquia. We'll then hike in Los Colorados, known for its bright red rock formations and ancient rock art, including over 200 petroglyphs. We'll visit Chacho Cave to discuss the history of the region. This trail spans 2 kilometres (1.24 miles) and includes the Natural Bridge shaped by wind erosion.

Schedule: This hike option begins at 9 am.

Condor Ravine (14 Hours)

Our first stop will be Punta de los Llanos after a 110-kilometre (68-mile) journey from La Rioja. The hike begins here as we ascend through big rocks and mountains. We'll reach a viewpoint to watch Andean condors take flight. Afterward, we will descend to an inn where you'll have free time before returning to La Rioja.

Schedule: This hike option begins at 7 am.
