Join us on a captivating journey through the Riojan villages on this exploration of some of the region's most picturesque towns, such as Agua Blanca, Las Peñas, and Chuquis.
Description
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in La Rioja, leading us to one of the most fascinating parts of the Argentine province—what is referred to as the Riojan coast. The intriguing name will be explained as we proceed on our excursion.
First, we will traverse through Las Padercitas, Quebrada, and Túnel. Along the way, we will encounter the Los Sauces dam and the charming town of Sanagasta, notable for its quaint houses and narrow streets, contributing to its distinct charm.
Next, our journey takes us to the Salamanca caves and Valle del Huaco. Here, we will navigate the slopes named after the valleys, passing through a selection of delightful villages at the base of the Sierra del Velazsco—specifically Agua Blanca, Las Peñas, and Chuquis. A stop will be made at the house museum of Castro Barros.
Continuing along La Rioja's scenic route, we will visit the enchanting villages of Pinchas, Aminga, and Anillaco, before concluding our tour with a return to your hotel roughly 5 hours after we began our adventure.
Weather and road conditions permitting, we may opt for a return journey via the mountain road or around the striking Señor de La Peña, an enormous rock formation that strikingly resembles Christ's head. Every Holy Week, this site attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over Argentina.
