Holbox Mangroves Kayak Tour

Activity Details

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel and transport you to the launch site. Here, we will provide an overview of the 8-kilometer (5 miles) course and distribute your kayaks and paddles. Are you ready? Let’s embark on this adventure!

From the outset, we will set off on a delightful kayaking journey to Punta Mosquito, which we will reach in around 35 minutes. This area features a vast beach dotted with dunes, mangroves, and breathtaking vistas of the Mexican Caribbean.

While we glide through the water, we will encounter a variety of wildlife, including the peregrine falcon, snowy plover, horseshoe crab, and American oystercatcher. Following this, we will paddle towards the Kuka River, appreciating the local wildlife and plant life of Holbox Island. We will spend 1.5 hours navigating through mangrove regions that are home to flamingos, ospreys, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills.

Keep your eyes peeled! It's common to catch a glimpse of crocodiles basking along the banks. This fascinating species can live for up to 80 years! We will pause for 10 minutes at the river's mouth to rest and capture photographs before making our way back to the starting location.

At last, after a total of 3 hours, we will conclude our adventure at the iconic Holbox sign on the beach in town.
