4-Day Tour Overview
Day 1
Your adventure will kick off at the Leticia boardwalk, where we will gather according to the schedule and embark on a journey through one of Colombia's most lush jungles. A comfortable boat ride along the Amazon River will lead us to the vibrant town of Puerto Nariño.
Once we arrive, a guided exploration of Puerto Nariño will reveal its stunning green scenery, traditional architecture, and the unique lifestyle of its residents. Following this enlightening tour, a delightful dinner will be served at our lodging, before donning rubber boots and headlamps for an exciting nocturnal trek into the jungle, where we hope to encounter local insects and amphibians.
Afterward, a well-deserved rest awaits us back at our accommodation.
Day 2
On the second day, we will embark on a canoe adventure to Peruvian Cacao Island. As we navigate through this distinct habitat, we will learn about the various trees of the Amazon and their unique characteristics. With a bit of luck, we may spot a sloth perched high in the branches.
Post-lunch, we’ll board a boat for a journey along the Loretoyacu River, allowing us to observe the area's rich array of wildlife, including Piracu fish, crocodiles, piranhas, anacondas, and river dolphins. As night falls, we’ll set out on another expedition, this time seeking the elusive black caimans.
We will conclude our day with dinner and an overnight stay in a cabin by Lake Tarapoto.
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, surrounded by the breathtaking views of Lake Tarapoto's wetlands, we will drift down the Amazon River for a scenic 2-hour boat ride to Mocagua. This quaint community serves as an ideal backdrop for immersing ourselves in the ancient traditions of the Amazonian tribes.
A traditional lunch will be part of our visit, followed by an exploration of the Mocagua Monkey Sanctuary, an animal rehabilitation center that houses primates rescued from illegal trades. Here, you’ll get a close look at these fascinating creatures and learn about their stories.
Your stay will conclude with a restful night at accommodations in Mocagua.
Day 4
On the final day of our expedition, we will make our way back to Leticia. After enjoying breakfast at the Mocagua lodge, we will set out either at 7 am or 10 am. Upon our return to Leticia, we will conclude our journey at the initial meeting point with fond farewells.
