Lettere Castle Guided Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the main entrance of Lettere Castle to begin a guided tour of this medieval fortress in the Campania region.
Before entering the fortress, we will observe the remains of the hermitage of Our Lady of Succour in front of the bastion. The ancient bell tower, made of grey tuff and yellow sandstone, stands in contrast to the Lattari Mountains in the distance. This location offers a strategic view over the Gulf of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius in the background.
After visiting the chapel, we will proceed to Lettere Castle, built in the 10th century under the Duchy of Amalfi. The tour will commence in the Courtyard of Weapons and the Keep, which houses a museum detailing the history of the families that resided in the bastion.
Our guided tour will continue at the Torre del Trigo (Wheat Tower). The interior contains another museum showcasing bronze and ceramic objects discovered in archaeological excavations around the fortress.
Finally, after an hour and a half walk, the tour will conclude at the meeting point.
