Leave Costa Rica behind and spend a day in Nicaragua: explore the historic town of Granada and discover the volcanic landscapes of Masaya National Park.

Nicaragua Day Trip from Guanacaste

On the excursion day, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Guanacaste in the morning. After reaching the border, you'll enter Nicaragua.

Your first stop is Lake Nicaragua, where you'll take a boat ride to view the Nicaraguan islets and enjoy typical Nicaraguan cuisine on one of the islands.

Next, visit Granada, and take a guided tour of the historic center of Nicaragua's oldest city by Lake Cocibolca. Explore its cultural heritage, colonial architecture, and important landmarks, including the bright yellow Cathedral.

After Granada, head to Masaya Volcano National Park to hike between the craters of the San Fernando and San Juan Volcanoes. Enjoy views of the verdant hills.

Your tour will also include a stop at the Masaya Handicraft Market for souvenirs and a visit to the Catarina Volcano viewpoint.

At the end of your day, you'll return to the border with Costa Rica and be transferred back to your hotel in Guanacaste, approximately 14 hours after departure.
