Leave Costa Rica behind and spend a day in Nicaragua: explore the historic town of Granada and discover the volcanic landscapes of Masaya National Park.

Nicaragua Day Trip from Guanacaste

On the day of your excursion, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Guanacaste in the morning and head north to the border, entering Nicaragua.

The first stop will be Lake Nicaragua, where you'll take a boat ride to view the Nicaraguan islets and enjoy local cuisine on one of the islets.

Next, the tour continues to Granada for a guided tour of Nicaragua's oldest city, located on the coast of Lake Cocibolca. You'll explore its colonial architecture and significant landmarks.

Stroll to the Cathedral, a prominent yellow colonial building. Learn about Granada's nickname, "La Gran Sultana," as you appreciate its diverse architectural styles.

After Granada, visit Masaya Volcano National Park. You'll walk between the craters of the San Fernando and San Juan Volcanoes, enjoying views of the surrounding hills.

Before concluding the tour, there will be a stop at the Masaya Handicraft Market for souvenirs, and you'll pass by the Catarina Volcano viewpoint.

After exploring Nicaragua, you'll return to the border and be transferred back to your hotel in Guanacaste approximately 14 hours after departure.
