Travel back in time to the era of colonial Lima with our House Aliaga Guided Visit. You'll explore one of the oldest buildings in the Peruvian capital, constructed in 1535, the year Lima was founded.
Tour Details
At your chosen time, we'll meet in Perú Square where House Aliaga is located.
The history of this mansion dates back to Francisco Pizarro, who divided plots of land in Lima among his men. One of those men was Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez, who became one of the conquerors of Peru. The Aliaga family has lived in this house since it was built.
Aliaga House has witnessed significant events in Peru's history. During the Republic, it served as a refuge for President Miguel Iglesias, Rear Admiral Aurelio García, and Generals Manuel Velarde and Antonio Bentín.
We'll explore the halls of the House Aliaga and learn about the family that has lived here for 17 generations. The visit includes the tiled living room, bedrooms with Louis XVI-style furniture, French carpets, and Japanese vases. From the lavish dining room, we'll look out at the courtyard featuring a 19th-century English fountain.
Another highlight is the chapel, once adorned with silver plates looted during the War of Independence.
After nearly 3 hours touring the iconic Aliaga House, we'll conclude our visit and say our goodbyes.
