North Peru Campervan Tour Package: 10 Days

For 10 days, you'll have the campervan of your choice at your disposal so you can travel freely around northern Peru. Although you can follow the route of your choice, we suggest the following:

Day 1: Lima

On our first day, we'll pick you up when you arrive at the airport and take you to the hotel in Lima where you'll spend the night and receive the vehicle.

Day 2: Lima - Caral- Albúfera de Medio Mundo

Get up early to make the most of your first day. After 4 hours 30 minutes, you'll arrive at Caral for a guided tour of the archaeological site. You can spend the night at the Caral campsite or continue to Albúfera de Medio Mundo.

Day 3: Albúfera de Medio Mundo – Chavín de Huántar

Visit the lagoon in the morning, then drive 5 hours to Chavín de Huántar. You can sleep at the Chacra Local de Chavín campsite.

Day 4: Chavín de Huántar - Caraz

Take a guided tour of the archaeological site of Chavín, then visit Yungay's cemetery before driving 110 miles (175 kilometers) to Caraz.

Day 5: Caraz - Lake Parón

After exploring Caraz, drive 2 hours to Lake Parón and camp in front of the Artesonraju mountain.

Day 6: Lake Parón - Huanchaco

From Lake Parón, head to Huanchaco, where you can relax at the beach and camp at Casa de Local campsite.

Day 7: Huanchaco - Trujillo - Huanchaco

Go on a tour of the Mochica culture, visiting Huacas del Sol and de la Luna and Chan Chan. Enjoy lunch with a horse show.

Day 8: Huanchaco - Chicama

Experience caballito de totora in the morning or take a surfing lesson before heading to Chicama.

Day 9: Chicama - Las Aldas

Take a surfing lesson at Puerto Malabrigo, then drive 5 hours 30 minutes to Las Aldas and camp on La Gramita Beach.

Day 10: Las Aldas - Lima

Depart Las Aldas before midday, have lunch at Tato in Barraca, then arrive in Lima after driving 230 miles (370 kilometers) and return the campervan.

Tour with a driver

If you'd prefer not to drive, the tour with a driver is the best option. We'll pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel in Lima. The route from the second day onwards will be the same as above.

What are the campervans like?

All vehicles are equipped with GPS, manual drive and a cruising speed of 62 mi/h (100 km/h). The Hyundai Campervan has a height of 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) and the Hilux Motorhome has a height of 6.9 feet (2.1 meters). The campervans have a maximum capacity of 5 people, accommodating 3 adults and 1 child in the Hyundai Campervan, and 2 adults and 1 child in the Hilux Motorhome. Tents and sleeping bags can be rented at the campsites for 10USD and 8USD respectively.
