Discover the beautiful scenery that surrounds the historic town of Lismore on our Round Hill Hiking Activity. We'll visit the iconic Motte and Bailey Castle and take a pleasant walk along the banks of the River Blackwater.

Round Hill Hiking Activity

At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This route is situated among the trees along the banks of the River Blackwater.

We'll venture into Lismore's forest and reach the Special Area of Conservation. Here, we'll discuss the history surrounding this area.

During our walk, we'll visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, constructed by King John of England in the 12th century for defense purposes.

As we cover the 3 miles (5 kilometres) of our hiking route, we'll enjoy views of the River Blackwater and learn about the Irish legends associated with Motte and Bailey.

We'll return to the meeting point and conclude the activity around 12:30 pm.
