Discover the beautiful scenery surrounding the historic town of Lismore on our Round Hill Hiking Activity, including the iconic Motte and Bailey Castle and the River Blackwater.

Round Hill Hiking Activity

At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore to begin our walk along the Round Hill trail. This route winds through trees alongside the River Blackwater.

We'll enter Lismore's forest and explore the Special Area of Conservation, discussing the history of the area.

During the hike, we will visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, built by King John of England in the late 12th century for border defense.

Over the course of the 3 miles (5 kilometers) hiking route, we will enjoy views of the River Blackwater and hear Irish legends related to Motte and Bailey.

Our return to the meeting point will conclude around 12:30 pm.
